Fortune McDonald is from 2300. In the year 2300 men are extinct (this reader was cringing over the very idea!) and Fortune McDonald is a highly skilled "Man-Maker". A bit uptight, and unwise to the opposite sex, Fortune wakes to find herself sharing a bed in the year 2000 Texas, with none other than a REAL man! Imagine her glee over making this discovery!
Enter, Leith Campbell, "The Real Man" from Scotland 1700. A Scottish warrior, who has Alpha Male written all over him, and who thinks Fortune is a witch. Nothing in this land is familiar but Leith seems to make the best of any situation with humor, and lots of lusty charm. He's powerful and ultra sexy all rolled into one big package!!
Thrown together in unfamiliar times, they must navigate their way through use of Fortune's history disks from the future, and a little creativity. Comedy abounds when the two head to K-Mart, and Burger King, thus opening the door to one mishap after another! Yet again opposites attract, I found the differences between Fortune and Leith charming. Fortune`s bland, quiet lifestyle is turned upside down by the larger than life Leith, who lives for the moment!
Leith wants nothing more than to return to Scottland to right a misdeed he feels responsible for. Fortune wants to bring Leith back to 2300, to reproduce children, mainly boys. In the middle of all of this was a funny romp through time with two people I came to feel I could spend some time with just hanging out.
Nina Bangs' vivid imagination, and witty dialogue made me giggle. If it wasn`t the romance of the century, that's ok by this reader. A diversion into the unpredictable was a refreshing change!
