Chelsea Porter has it all. A successful career as an interior designer and a beautiful waterfront home in Massachusetts... but why does she feel like something is missing? There is a family legend that her great-great-grandmother miraculously escaped drowning in the middle of the ocean. There was also a promise made that has yet to be kept. Unlike her mother, Chelsea has always loved the sea, until one night she has an encounter with a mysterious creature and begins to have nightmares. When Nicholas Demitry, a world-renowned artist and the son of Poseidon, king of the sea, comes to town, life for Chelsea is about to change.

Nicholas has waited over 150 years to claim Chelsea and see to the fulfillment of a promise that was made by her great-great grandmother. The catch is that she must be willing to come to him freely and without fear. But she is not quite ready for the reality of who and what Nicholas is.

When one night Chelsea accidentally sees Nicholas in his true form, she is almost killed in a car accident fleeing from him. In the aftermath, she is severely burned and left blind. While she heals, she begins to fall in love with Nicholas. The problem is that in addition to the blindness, she has also lost her memory. She doesnít remember her job, her friends or even meeting Nicholas before. When her memory comes back, despite her growing love for him, she pushes him away and leaves, not knowing that there is always a price to pay. Nicholas, in letting her go without fulfilling his promise to his father to bring her to their world under the sea, is banished from walking the land, never to see or touch Chelsea again, unless she comes to him.

Poseidonís Kiss is a story about a woman who is blinded by her fear of pain and the unknown. The lesson she must learn is that only by embracing your fear, will all be revealed and true happiness attained.

Ms. Crease has woven a tale filled with mythical beings, Poseidon, king of the sea, neireds, sea witches, giant manta rays and Greek gods. Nicholas is a strong, compassionate man who is willing to sacrifice all for the woman he loves and who is his destiny. Chelsea has a lot to overcome, although, I thought she hung on to her fear and disbelief just a tad too long. Overall a wonderful story that is sure to tug at your heart.
