What better job for a vampire to have than being a hematologist? That was exactly what Matthew Winter was - a blood doctor. He kept his secret of being a vampire from his family as he was adopted into a "human" family.

His world is turned upside down when he meets his sister's friend, Dulcie. Dulcie “smelled” Matthew from the time she walked into his parents’ house. She was attracted to him in a big way but Matthew wanted nothing to do with Dulcie. He could detect her scent and knew she was hot and wet for him. So what does Matthew do? He leaves. Well that doesn't deter Dulcie, no way, she shows up to apologize to him and take him to lunch with his sister.

Can Dulcie show Matthew what it is like to be a vampire and how mating is with another vampire? And Matthew, who has always hidden his “other” side, can he now get in touch with it and learn from it? Well, we get to see all this and more when Wayne, Dulcie’s third cousin comes into the picture.

Even though this is a “quickie” from Kate Hill, it has all the elements of a longer story. Sure the story could have been longer, but it is fine the way it is. It has the sizzling, intense sex that we expect, add in a good fight scene, more sex and the ability to smell things that normal people would not and the length no longer seems to matter. Ms. Hill was able to suck me into the story from the beginning. By the title, I did not think I would enjoy the story as well as I did. But the old saying, “don’t judge a book by its cover”, is apt here, and one I will not forget anytime soon.
