Jonathan Brighton (John) is the CEO of Guardian and was carjacked on his vacation to Mexico. He has no memory of what has happened after he is shot, with a bullet remaining in his head.
After spending six months in the hospital, he is finally released and a physical therapist, Katie Cavanaugh, who is actually an undercover FBI agent, is assigned to him.
One of Johnís colleagues, Derek Miller, has disappeared since Johnís accident and was found dead after six months, apparently the same time when John was carjacked. All evidence points the police to John as being the prime suspect in the case.
Katieís mission is to find evidence and catch a killer. When she meets John, her instincts tell her John is no killer and she has to determine whether she is right or wrong. Spending time with John makes her wonder if the intimacy of being his physical therapist will cloud her judgment.
Midnight Rain is another page-turner by Dee Davis that leads you on a merry chase to find out who the real villain is. The story is very suspenseful from beginning to end. Every player employed by Guardian looks guilty and it is not an easy task to pick out the villain. Whenever you suspect one person, it comes out that you are wrong until you come to the last suspect on the list. Thatís the success of the best of romantic suspense! Definitely a shelf keeper!
