Lady Gwyneth Macleod has staked her fortune and her reputation to help Mary, Queen of Scots take her rightful place on the throne. But her struggle to guide the reckless, defiant queen has put her at perilous odds with Rowan Graham, a laird dangerously accomplished in both passion and affairs of state. And the more Gwyneth challenges his intentions, the less he can resist the desire igniting between them. Now, with her country in turmoil and treachery shadowing her every step, will Gwyneth's last daring gamble lead her to the ultimate betrayal or a destiny greater than she could ever imagine?

Flung together on a mission for Queen Mary, Lady Gwyneth MacLeod and Lord Rowan Graham fight their attraction. Their politics might not always be in agreement, but their desire is undeniable. Treachery and danger surround them, and Gwyneth's loyalty and her love are at odds. Will she be led down a path to the executioner, or is her fate in Rowan's hands?

I was looking forward to reading this latest Shannon Drake book and was disappointed that it read more like a biography that a romance. I just could not become comfortable with the characters and the storyline didn't keep my attention for long.

I truly enjoy Ms. Drake's work, but The Queen's Lady did not live up to what I had hoped it would be.
