Putting Jayne Murphy into an outdoor environment is like asking a polar bear to live in Jamaica. Totally inappropriate. Of course, asking the polar bear to share accommodations with his ex-girlfriend would be even worse. But that is the premise of this wonderful little romance that will charm your hiking boots off and leave you laughing.
Jayne Murphy has decided to lead a group of “dumpees” on a recovery hike – they’re all going to 'get over' the jerk that left them. Jayne gets a real shock when she discovers that their guide is none other than Riley Davis, her very own jerk. Riley, handsome as can be, is completely confused. Jayne, all city girl all the time, is out of her depth. The recipe is in place for a delightfully funny confection that pits Vogue against Hunting and Fishing Weekly. Can Jayne survive without her special bath salts and conditioners? Can Riley learn foot reflexology?
Can the two of them avoid the electric sparks between them long enough to get over each other? Nah!! Of course not. This is a romance, and we want the love to bloom for these two. And bloom it does. Awkwardly, with misconceptions on both sides, but with a deepening strength and passion that is a joy to read about.
You don’t have to be an outdoors person to enjoy this tale (trust me on this!!), because the characters will delight you and the story will tug you along by your heartstrings. No great drama, no intricate mysteries, just the pleasure of watching two people fall in love. It’s what romance is all about. Do try this one, it’s a keeper.
