Nicki Styx learns of her new gift while in the hospital after suffering from a heart attack. Her Near Death Experience, NDE, will change her life forever. It starts with a visitor from another plane of reality. Nicki sees dead people...and they know they're dead.

Dr. Joe Bascombe is the doctor who treated Nicki when she arrived at the ER. He has seen the effects NDE has on people. In fact, he is writing a book about it. When Nicki tells him what is happening to her Joe is interested for researchís sake. That is not all which interests him. He is drawn to her in ways he hasnít been in a long time. Joe wants to get to know her better. But when her stories get more involved Joe worries for her well-being.

Nicki is also worried about her well-being. A friend who owned a shop next to Nickiís was murdered. Now the spirit of that friend, Caprice, is demanding Nickiís help. When she doesnít move fast enough to satisfy Caprice, the spirit begins to let Nicki know it in no uncertain terms.

Nicki does some research and finds a bit of chilling truth. Caprice practiced voodoo in life and her spirit still used it in death. Every day brings more danger like Caprice hurting the ones near and dear to Nicki. It is then Nicki decides it is time to fight back.

Dead Girls are Easy by Terri Garey is fast-paced, sometimes dark, but always attention-grabbing. It is Ghost Whisperer with an attitude.

Romance plays a side role in this paranormal suspense novel. In fact, my only complaint with this story is that the love story line has the likeness of a soap opera to it. In other words, one coincidence too many for my tastes.
