The year is 2020 and time travel is a new technology for mankind. Some people consider the Time Displacement Wave a dangerous game of playing God, others see it as an amazing opportunity to learn. Serenity Steele falls into the latter category.
A “Back to the Past” contest provides a perfect chance to travel to Africa before the war destroyed its beauty. Regrettably, Serenity’s proposal is not chosen and Africa will remain a dream. She resigns herself to the fact that she will be staying behind but a last minute change in plans sends Serenity to Regency England. She has good reason to want to steer clear of England, however there is no way she can turn down an experience like this.
One minute Serry is standing in the year 2020 and the next she is in 1812 Bath, England. The journey, painful though it was, actually happened. As awe-inspiring as time travel proves itself to be, she can’t forget her reason for being there: to study the lives and culture of Regency England during the Napoleonic wars.
In 1812 one needs a sponsor to be introduced to society. Serry is soon taken under the wing of a noble family which is exactly what she hoped for. With the blessing, however, comes a curse. The Marchioness, Lady Rotterham, has taken it upon herself to find a love match for Serry. Wanting nothing to do with marriageable men, but highly interested in the workings of the Meat Market, Serry follows her sponsor. Then she meets Nicholas Wycliffe, the Marchioness’ son.
Nicholas is not impressed with Serenity in the least. She is too thin, she sticks her nose in other people’s business, and the most frustrating thing is that the woman appears to be uninterested in him! Then there is the strong feeling that she is hiding something and Nicholas is determined to find out what it is.
Sparks flew from the first meeting between Serry and Nicholas. Every encounter thereafter only proves to ignite the charge. But she has to be careful. Her research will only be for a year. If she allows herself to fall in love how will she be able to leave?
This well written love story comes special delivery for readers of historical romance and fans of time travel romance. The characters are likeable and the dialogue is clever as it speeds the plot along at an agreeable pace. Prepare for an exciting journey in Ms. Knight’s newest offering, Regency Society Revisited. The author has given the tried and true theme a twist that satisfies and entertains at the same time.
