Though the book no longer sports “Crazy” in the title, this is a spin-off of the fast paced Steele Street series. We met both C. Smith Rydell and Honey York in Crazy Sweet when he saved her in the streets of El Salvador. Now he finds himself assigned to PSD – Personal Security Detail – as Honey once again ends up in a dangerous situation.
As if that’s not bad enough, he also just learned Irene Polchenko, a woman he once thought dead is very much alive. The last time Smith had seen Irene she’d been walking away from him after giving the order for his death. He knows if she learns he’s alive she’ll do everything in her power to change that, as he knows her most valuable secret.
Soon Smith finds himself on board a plane with Honey, a suitcase of cash and a bunch of weapons. He’s not worried about finding a downed plane and recovering a flash drive hidden on board, but he’s not thrilled with having to meet up with a dangerous drug dealer. He just hopes he and Honey manage to make it out of there alive, and maybe, possibly, hopefully end up in bed together again.
Once again Janzen takes us on a roller coaster ride full of fast paced action and steamy romance. Characters aren’t all what they appear to be and we are left eager for the next book. At times the story seemed bogged down by too much weapon description and other times overwhelming with the abbreviations and government speak, but on the whole the book is a definite must read.
