Gayle Fortman has made a success of her bed-and-breakfast, Daughter of the Stars, and she is raising three boys on her own. She has somehow managed to have a cordial relationship with Eric, her ex-husband. Her best friend and neighbor, Travis Allen has been a godsend, he has become a surrogate father to her boys and has helped her out on more than one occasion.

When Eric comes to her, not for getting back with her, but to recover from his terrible accident in Afghanistan, Gayle realizes this may be Ericís only chance to reconnect with their sons. She is also aware she and Eric still have feelings for each other, and she knows it would never work out between them; too much has happened for them to go back to being a true family.

The eye to detail the author has is amazing. The vivid descriptions of the quilts mentioned are downright breathtaking to learn about. Highly recommended.
