Merneptah Seti was a powerful Egyptian pharaoh, but his life was cut short by the betrayal of those close to him. After three thousand years he is awakened with his memories of ancient times intact, but at the price of being a vampire. Nowadays he rules over the Royal Palace, a hotel and casino in Las Vegas that is a modern day pyramid and he goes by the name Adrian King.

Dr. Christine Day is a renowned Egyptologist and has come to the Royal Palace to see the museum quality artifacts that are housed in a special gallery. Both Adrian and Christine are bit stunned when they first meet. Christine has been having what she labels "waking dreams" all her life and Adrian is literally the man of her dreams. Adrian dreamed about Christine in ancient Egypt. They each may feel they have found their soul-mate, but Adrian fears that he may have to make serious choices that will affect their futures. He also is afraid that pure evil from his past has been awakened that could claim them.

I love vampire stories and this well researched twist on that lore was pure pleasure to read. Paranormal novels are hot now and this author has the knack to craft an unforgettable one. The sensuous prose evokes the opulence of Ancient Egypt as well as modern Las Vegas. I felt totally immersed in the plot.

Christine and Adrian's love story is absolutely perfect. All romance readers long for an eternal love and this couple is surely the epitome of that. The love scenes are some of the most seductive I have read in a long time.

Elizabeth Guest is a pseudonym for author Suzanne Simmons. I have enjoyed books she has written under that name, but I feel Night Life is her best to date. I was thrilled to find out it is just the first in a series. I will be anxiously awaiting book #2.
