Never Alone is a story in the 43 Light Street series of romantic suspense, all written by Rebecca York.

Detective Cal Rollins has to pretend he is married to Beth Wagner in order to protect her and try to discover the identity of a serial killer. Beth has psychic powers, which enable her to see events before they happen and Cal is very doubtful of her abilities. But he has to admit there is an attraction between Beth and him. An attraction, which he would rather not admit to as he distrusts permanent relationships of any kind.

Beth is a loner because of her unusual powers. She was attracted to Cal but wanted him to accept her as she was and not dismiss her unusual ability. But her psychic ability and a serial killer on the loose adds a lot of tension and suspense in this story. It is an exciting plot and when it delves into the psychic world, it is very gripping. The reader can feel the pain and fear that Beth goes through when she has her visions. And since this is a romance, there is a lot of passion between the hero and heroine that heats up as the story unfolds. The sexual chemistry is excellent between the main characters.

There are some good secondary characters, many of them from previous 43 Light Street stories. Beth’s dog Granger is a major star in the story.

If you like a good contemporary romance with a dash of suspense this book is a must read.
