After the death of her mother, Emma Beck learns she was adopted, her birth mother having died giving birth to her. She travels to her birth motherís hometown and, as sheís driving down the street, spies a house that calls to her. Itís a house sheís never seen before, and yet itís one sheís dreamed of and painted often. Impulsively she immediately buys it and finds a contractor to begin renovations.

Contractor Mike Ruhl doesnít like the house and being inside it gives him a really creepy feeling. Heís never met the owner, and canít imagine anyone wanting to live there. But when Emma and Mike first lay eyes on each other they both have an overwhelming feeling of knowing the other and can barely resist the urge to rip their clothes off and climb all over each other.

When strange things start happening around the house, Emma calls Mike for help. While heíd been uncomfortable in the house before, with Emma there it feels more like a home. But soon both of them are caught up in a mystery, learning about things from the past that just may put their lives in danger now. As past and present collide, Emma and Mike have to decide if they canít trust each other and how they can keep history from repeating itself.

This author always adds a bit of the mysterious and paranormal to her stories, and she does in it a way that makes it hard not to believe itís possible. This book is different than her previous ones, but no less intense or romantic.
