The name Jayne Ann Krentz on the cover of a book is synonymous with romance. Also synonymous with the occasional outrageous, over-the-top heroine. Juliana Grant is one of those heroines, and I adored her from the first moment I met her, sighing out her passion beneath handsome lawyer Travis Grant.

That was another shocker – this book actually begins with the hero and heroine enjoying a bout of bliss together. Ms. Krentz certainly wrote this book with a pen that was on fire with innovative plot ideas. Juliana is an Amazon goddess of a heroine barely shorter than Travis. She loves to wear very high heels, even though she tops six feet, and she strides through the pages of this romance with head-turning appeal.

Travis is strong enough not to get lost in Juliana’s shadow, however, as he comes to realize that far from being just a very unexpected and pleasant fling, Juliana is actually something else. Something very important. There is a sound plot working behind these lovers, some delightful secondary characters, and a couple of wonderfully funny moments that translate to some great visual images. The notion of Juliana leaping onto the hood of Travis’ car and then standing there like some kind of oversized hood ornament is just priceless!

It’s a merry dance in the best tradition of Jayne Ann Krentz. Lots of love, laughter and a well developed story line to bind it all together. It may have been written in 1989, but Juliana is certainly a woman who would do well whatever year she happens to be in!! This is vintage Krentz – please add it to your collection if you have the chance.
