As a part time musician, Indie rock DJ and full time connoisseur of self- absorbed rockers, Jessie Adams lives a fairly normal life in LA. That is until her friend’s beach side music club, The Sea Shack, is threatened by a rezoning order. Deciding to make a stand, Jessie figures the best way to save the place is to join the political rat race in candidacy for the City Council. She doesn’t count on running into Chuck Jackson - literally, or being stalked by someone who wants the candidates out of the way. Fortunately, Chuck is a tall, gorgeous undercover detective who vows to protect her at all costs.
As Jessie beings to realize protection from Chuck might not be a bad thing, especially the protecting her body part, danger strikes. When the stakes start to be raised, Jessie has to figure out if Chuck is just playing around or playing for keeps…
Five O’Clock Shadow is a delightful story, one that is well crafted and packed with a wry sense of humor that had this reviewer laughing long and hard. Jessie proves to be a heroine every female can relate to - haven’t we all experienced the moment when an ex-boyfriend reappears looking perfectly coiffed while we look dishevelled? Or in Jessie’s case scruffy and wet!
Chuck provides the anti-thesis hero to Jessie’s character. Unlike her usual boyfriends, Chuck is her complete opposite. Despite this, their attraction is cataclysmic to say the least!
Genie Davis is definitely an author whose star is rising! If you enjoy contemporary romance with a touch of suspense, a whole lot of humor and interesting characters, Five O’Clock Shadow is the book for you!
