Artist Mia Kearney starts her day like any other – getting coffee at the local café and receiving some teasing about her eating habits from her neighbors and friends. The next thing she knows, she’s in a hospital-like environment with a bunch of strangers and she’s being interrogated by Homeland Security agent Nick Price. Mia’s very confused and annoyed by this until she’s told that all of her friends are dead, her home destroyed and she’s the prime suspect in this devastation!

Nick has been around long enough to know that Mia’s disbelief and shock are real but when he takes his concerns to the CIA agent in charge, he gets blown off. That’s when his own instincts take over and he decides that whatever is going on, Mia might not be a part of it! When he abruptly gets recalled to Washington, he knows that something is wrong and it all revolves around Mia, somehow, and he must decide quickly if he’s going to help her or not. Before he can make that decision, she knocks him out cold with a chair leg during her escape. What follows next is one hell of a ride!!!

Chain Reaction by Dee Davis is a thrilling, edge-of-your-seat nail-biter! I loved Mia and Nick immediately and they proved perfect for one another. Their moments of distrust were based on honest, not stupid, reasons. It was fantastic to see these two people build a loving relationship from such a sordid, horrifying event. The bad guys gave me the willies and made me wonder about the possibility of an event like this happening in real life. The whole concept of this book is nothing less than terrifying but it’s also a book you won’t be able to put down – I know I couldn’t! Ms. Davis, I do hope that we will see Matt have his own book soon!
