David Wolfe thought he left the military life behind. After one too many missions, he packed his bags and retreated to the Rocky Mountains for some peace. Unfortunately, even a hard man to find can be found with the right resources, and David comes face to face with his former commanding officer. Col. Monroe calls in one last marker, and asks David to help him protect cryptographer Noelle Blanche.
Noelle has vowed never to work for any governmental agency. After her parents were killed because of their scientific discoveries, Noelle does not want to be responsible for any bloodshed due to her knowledge. She is furious when the government pressures her university to threaten dismissal if she does not assist them with a new project. She is determined to stand by her convictions, no matter what the cost.
Her perseverance is shaken when she is attacked in her own home, and she learns that others have been killed for similar skills. She is forced to admit that David Wolfe, whoever he is, may be her only hope of survival.
Author Shannon K. Butcher brings readers to the edge of their seats with No Regrets, her debut novel. She keeps us in suspense as Noelle and David run from the bad guys and ferret out the truth. The novel is fast-paced and full of breathless action. There is plenty of human interest along the way as Noelle and David must also face their personal demons if they are to stay alive. Since Ms. Butcher’s husband, Jim, is one of my favorite authors, I was thrilled to see that her writing is equally well-crafted. I am hoping that some of the other Delta-Force members will be featured in future novels. No Regrets is going on my keeper shelf.
