At the mercy of her money-hungry stepbrother, Rowena Belleme must have a child. He had forced her into marriage and on the wedding night, before the old man could claim her as his wife, he died. Now they needed an heir to keep the money.
Warrick deChaville was journeying home when he was clubbed on the head and woke chained to a bed, with a voluptuous beauty looking at him as if she had never seen a man before. Indeed, she hadn`t seen a man such as he. Because his hair and eyes were the same color as her late husband, she must seduce him into giving her a child. And accomplishes this, but Warrick escapes before Rowena`s stepbrother can kill him.
Taken captive and imprisoned like he was, Rowena was at his mercy, yet again. Because she is carrying his child, he won`t let her go until he gets the baby. But Rowena faces more than Warrick`s desire and wrath. War is breaking out around them and inside Warrick`s home someone wants Rowena gone and will stop at nothing to see it happen.
This book is a medieval, and it's a sub-genre that I don't normally enjoy, however, this was a delightful surprise. Rowena was meek and timid as she should be with the life like she had had, but met Warrick`s challenges without flinching. And Warrick was a warrior through and through. Their story is one that I`ll be sure to reread and recommend.
