The final, thrilling story of the Madonna Key series is here! Series originator Evelyn Vaughn returns with Seventh Key, a novel sure to please the faithful readers who have followed this adventure around the globe.
The Adrianos are desperate to obtain the newly reconstructed mosaic from the Marians. In their desperation, they kidnap Maggi Sanger-Stuart and her infant daughter. They also hold other key children previously introduced. They want Maggi to contact the Marians, obtain the mosaic and give it to Duke Simon Adriano.
Maggi is no frail flower. She is married to one of the world’s richest men, and understands power. They assume that she will do anything to save her daughter, and she will, but on her terms. As a comparative mythologist, she already knows a great deal about the Black Madonnas and has contacts with the present-day Marians. With her husband, Lex, and his resources, Maggie is determined to save the children AND the world.
Ms. Vaughn wraps up the series with a fast-paced thriller that leaves readers breathless. With Duke Adriano holding the children hostage, Maggi and the Marians must move quickly to rescue them. Since she is already married, the romance takes a back seat in this book, but I don’t think readers will mind at all. The book's ending makes it all worth while.
The series ending also brings an additional note of sadness. The Silhouette Bombshell series, which has brought us some action-packed novels, has been cancelled. The January titles are the final quartet being issued. The problem was not the quality of the novels, but the way the series was perceived by retailers. The result of this confusion is that many stores, like Wal-Mart, failed to carry the series, and sales were not strong enough to keep the publisher satisfied. I look forward to finding these talented authors in new venues.
