When you finally pluck up enough courage to whip off that bikini top isnít it always the time when a handsome hunk comes running along the beach and trips over you? Donít you hate when that happens? Well, yes, itís a romance novel, and things like that do happen to heroines, especially Sandra Brown heroines. Mistress of the steamy novel, Ms. Brownís early romances were responsible for many a teenage fantasy (mine included), and this is a good example of why!

Caren Blakemore is the scantily clad young lady seeking refuge on a remote tropical beach. (Works better than the laundromat, I guess!) Derek Allen is the handsome mystery man who sweeps sand over her assets, and the rest of her off into a whirlwind love affair. And my goodness, Sandra Brown does the whirlwind love affair thing with enormous skill and talent.

Their passion runs hot, but the fuse is short, and before Caren knows it, the vacation is over. Or is it? With a lovely twist, Ms. Brown throws in a wrinkle or two that keep our lovers together out of necessity, while both struggle with their desires and their realization that hot sex might in fact be love masquerading as something less frightening. The characters are bold, genuine in their emotions (always remembering this is a romance novel... not too many Arab princes around these days), and very likeable.

The guaranteed Happily-Ever-After ending makes the difficult times bearable for the reader, and itís very easy to pop this book onto a shelf and re-read it at a later date. The warmth and pleasure of this love affair never goes out of style.
