When Camryn Bruce learns of her best friend’s death, she just cannot believe it. Her first concerns are of Holly’s daughter, Kylie. Who will be there for her now?

When Camryn learns that she is given guardianship of Kylie, she will take on more than being a mom to this little girl but also her protector for someone will do anything to have Kylie.

Dan Lambert was married to Kylie’s mother but it was really to only help her out. He is not Kylie’s “Daddy” but that is what she calls him and in his heart that is what he is. He will make life changes to be near her.

Who wants Kylie so much that they will kill for her? Who killed her mother, Holly on the runner’s path in the woods? Was it someone that Holly knew? Could it be Kylie’s biological Father? Oh and let’s not forget the other best friend who has not been herself for some time. To what extremes will Dan and Camryn have to go to protect Kylie? Also how will each protect their hearts for neither counted on the attraction that is building? If they are able to let that passion awake will it be only for Kylie’s sake or for their own hearts?

E.C. Sheedy’s, Without A Word is a well-written story but not one I enjoyed. I had a hard time following along sometimes. I also found that there were too many different storylines going on at one time. Also there was one part that was not completed on who killed Holly. We know as readers but the characters never learned the truth. This is not a keeper for me.
