The Jonhson`s are back! The family that was introduced in Hearts of Steel returns in Shirley Hailstock`s novel A Family Affair.
Brenda Reid is the quite, studious one. A professor of Astronomy, she spends more time looking at the sky than looking for a guy. That is until she arrives at her new job, as a professor at a small northern California college, where she meets Dr. Wesley Cooper, a charming genetics professor. Brenda is not interested in dating Wesley, but he doesn’t know the word no and refuses to give up. Wesley feels like he will never find The One. He has tried everything from traditional dating to internet dating services and has come to believe that he will never fall in love. When he meets Brenda he realizes that he has found The One. Now he must convince Brenda that he is the one for her!
When they both end up on the same train to Florida, Wesley and Brenda begin to fall in love. However, Wesley has a secret - before meeting Brenda, he and his friends made a bet that he has a year to find a woman willing to give him a baby! Now that Wesley has fallen in love, he will do anything to keep Brenda from finding out, even lie. But Brenda does find out, can their love survive?
This book is an amusing look at the academic world and two professors who are falling love and don`t really know what to do about it! Ms. Hailstock makes the reader laugh, groan, cry, and cheer for the wonderful endearing characters that appear in this book. I did find the big LIE to be a bit corny, but it made for a very interesting read.
