SERENDIPITY 3. (225 East 60th Street between Second and Third Avenues). If New York City is Wonderland, this is where Alice would want to have her tea party. In MISS MATCH, Kitty, Eleanor and Johanna visit this café and ice cream parlor extraordinare for the venue's signature concoction, Frozen Hot Chocolate. Served in an enormous goblet, part dessert, part beverage, there is nothing like it on earth. Not only is it sinfully delicious, but it has absolutely no calories!

Note to readers: Pick out the only deliberately boldfaced lie in this tour so far.

I strongly suggest that people planning to dine at Serendipity 3 (they also serve burgers, sandwiches, entrees, and all manner of other desserts) should book a reservation, because the place fills up and the hungry hordes spill out onto the sidewalk to wait. If there's room enough for you to wait inside, there are all sorts of funky gifts and cards for sale at the front section of the restaurant near the door. If they still have any copies of MISS MATCH for sale, please recommend it to everyone else who is waiting to be seated!

Serendipity 3 has a rich local history, which you can read on their oversized menu. Andy Warhol used to hang out there (or so my mother told me), and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis used to bring her kids there.
