THE PLAZA HOTEL. (Fifth Avenue at 59th Street). This is another top destination for visitors to my fair hometown, another of our city's grandes dames. The building has changed hands over the years - for a while it was owned by Ivana Trump - and they've redecorated a bit since I was a little girl. For those of you familiar with classic children's literature, The Plaza is the home of Kay Thompson's indomitable six-year-old hoyden Eloise, who wreaks gleeful havoc wherever she can make it. Thompson was a renowned songstress and contemporary of the great Judy Garland. It has been said that Eloise was modeled after Liza Minnelli at that age.

A couple of scenes in MISS MATCH take place at The Plaza. First, Match #3, Rick Byron, brings Kitty there for a nightcap after their dinner date. I won't mention what happens next because it will spoil too much of the story. Later on in the book, Match #5, Colin Fleetwood, takes Kitty to the famed Oak Bar for an Irish Coffee.
